Fox Archive Opened Up For Launch Of 'The Merchant Fox By Appointment'

Date Added: 2nd May 2012

Somerset, Wednesday 2nd May 2012: The Merchant Fox, which sells a collection of entirely British-made goods with provenance, has launched a 'By Appointment' bespoke service at its new showroom in Somerset. Offering a unique and personally tailored experience, 'The Merchant Fox By Appointment' is based in the former Counting House of Fox Brothers.

The Merchant Fox By Appointment offers individuals the chance to see The Merchant Fox's entire collection in the inimitable West Country surroundings of one of the best known names in cloth making. Split into Home & Interiors, Work & Travel and Style & Accessories, By Appointment customers can adapt The Merchant Fox's collection to meet their own personal taste, specifying exactly how they would like an certain piece to be, as well as being given access to the historic Fox Brothers archive, which dates back to the 1770's and is said to be 'one of the most significant textile (company) archives in the British Isles'.

Inspired by Fox's historic, hessian bound archive books, By Appointment customers can select their very own Fox cloth to be made into a one-off bespoke dressing gown, or an iconic West of England tweed to be made into an individual pair of hand-made slippers, which can also be hand-embroidered with a personal motif or initials upon request. The Merchant Fox's range of exquisite British made-to-order leather goods can also be created as one-offs, with personal insignias or initials as desired, as can the pieces made from Somerset willow at the last remaining site for commercially grown willow in this country.

During a By Appointment visit, individuals will be invited to view the extensive collection of Fox Brothers cloths and should they wish, be introduced to Brian Smith, Fox's resident bespoke tailor who can create a bespoke suit at the very mill where the cloth was woven.
