U.S. Customers : Cloth Duties and Taxes
From 29 August 2025, the U.S. has removed the $800 duty-free exemption. All shipments of Fox Brothers cloth or swatches are now subject to customs duties, tariffs, and taxes, regardless of value.
Example; Wool Cloth
Consider ordering a length of Fox Brothers wool cloth for a tailored suit. In the past, if the value was under $800, it could enter the U.S. duty-free. Now, every shipment is subject to duties. UK-produced cloth generally carries a 10% tariff, though the precise figure depends on classification and country of origin.

What This Means for Cloth Orders
-
Duties are determined by U.S. Customs, based on value, harmonised code, and origin.
-
All shipments are sent with DHL Express, who oversee customs clearance and collect charges before delivery.
-
State taxes may also apply.
Fox Brothers has supplied cloth to discerning customers and tailors across the world for over two centuries. We remain committed to clarity in service and are available to advise on any questions regarding duties.
