Renowned as an illustrious author, journalist, and founder of Permanent Style, Simon Crompton has built up a reputable reputation within the fashion sector, with his knowledgeable expertise on style and high-quality clothing.
Having recently visited Tommy and Giulio Caraceni, revered Italian tailor, based in Rome. A particular bolt of cloth caught Simon's eye. An off-cut vintage length of brown and black houndstooth tweed, with its detailed pattern and colour offering timeless tailoring. However, less than a couple of metres remained in stock of the cloth.
Therefore, Simon sought to collaborate with Fox Brothers', in order to create a black and brown houndstooth tweed, reminiscent of the pattern and colour of the off-cut he had discovered and highly admired.
The Fox Design Lab was keen to work with Simon Crompton, on turning his visions into reality, with an exclusive collection of seasonal cloth.
Simon Crompton accounts the initial creation process and collaborative project in his blog post "Lucas and I went down to the mill in Somerset, in order to plunder the Fox archive, and discuss ideas with the wonderful design team." He later goes on to add, "I chose Fox because their tweed was the most similar to that vintage piece I was aware of... It helped that I’d already had two jackets made in the Fox Tweed, so it was a known quantity."
After discussing Simons visions, Fox set it upon themselves to create a mini collection of cloth, inspired by the ideas from Simon Crompton, with the Black and Brown Houndstooth being the fundamental base of the bunch.
